Chat Status Redesign

On a recent project I had to rethink/redesign chat status: read, unread, active etc

Narrowed it down to 3 options (see attachment)
Decided to go with V3.

Why? The coloured left border in V1 and V2 added visual complexity. V3 is also closer to chat status convention seen in popular chat apps, like facebook messenger.
