In 2019, for the 100th anniversary of Zorro, I was hired by American Mythology Productions and Zorro Productions to create the 216-page retrospective The Mark of Zorro: 100 Years of the Masked Avenger. As editor, I chose the content and format of the book, came up with the outline, hired a writer for one of the introductions, researched information on images included in the book, and suggested the bonus materials and enhancements for the deluxe edition. As art director, I curated all of the art that went into the book, picking highlights from Zorro's appearances in film, television, comics, animation, and more from PDFs of thousands of available assets provided by the licensor. As designer, I designed the complete interiors and the two covers of the retrospective, cleaned and adjusted the almost 900 images that were included within, designed the items for the deluxe edition including a die-cut dust jacket, an art print, and an ebook of the original novel The Curse of Capistrano, created print and online ads for the publisher, and created a landing page to advertise the book's release. As co-writer, I researched Zorro facts and trivia to include on the sidebars throughout to keep readers engaged. Additionally, I communicated directly with the licensor for all needs, revisions, approvals, etc. to keep the project moving along under the short, three month turn-around time.
