Voyager and The Golden Record

For the Voyager Interstellar Message Project, the whole idea was to create a record that would carry the essence and the signature of humanity for thousands or millions of years on a 12-inch gold-plated copper disk so that some alien life form in the future could discover it.

Ann Druyan found a 2,500-year-old Chinese song called "Flowing Streams" to put on the record and called Carl Sagan to share it. At the beginning of the call they were colleagues, and by the end, they were engaged 💛
