Japanese Kitchen

I stayed in Japan for 6 months a while ago and I was surprised there was no big gas stove with the oven included but only small appliances as small gaz stoves with tiny oven included to grill fish, a small oven beside to grill toasts I guess, small rice cooker, small fridge.
