Social - One of India's most popular cafés/bars

I designed a concept app for Social which is a very popular group of cafes/bars in India which is also a coworking space. Merging their amazing menu, with an events section.
A UX pattern that I was experimenting with here was the reachability fo the hamburger. Why does it always have to be at the top? Why can't it be closer to the thumb?
