Midwest Dribbble

This is an illustration I created for a magazine cover competition.

I believe my illustration best captures the "essence" of the Midwest because my illustration is packed with Midwest symbolism. An isolated rural home is perched upon a hill overlooking farmland; hinting at our Midwest roots as farmers. A wind-turbine centered between two rows of trees in the top left of the composition represents the Midwest's effort to utilize sustainable energy resources. Even though the main focus of the illustration is a rural landscape, I included a semi-truck spewing diesel smoke as to not sugar coat the reality of the modern age we live in. Poles and lines to the right of the silo hint at the production of hops plants used to spice beer.
