So Aleksiej Ananenko, Walery Bespałow and Borys Baranow put on divers' outfits. They went to the reactor and waded in a deadly slush in search of valves. They could not find them, however. In addition, the lamp began to burn. Fortunately, literally at the last minute, the engineers recognized the pipe that led to the valves, and in the dark they came to them, by following the wires.
