I'll never forget seeing 'Saving Private Ryan' in the theaters. The opening D-Day sequence was one of the most harrowing moments I had ever witnessed. Spielberg's attention to detail garnered the respect from war vets everywhere. There was an overwhelming sense of gratitude that hung in the silence of the parking lot after that movie ended. Truly, those men who took part in the Normandy invasion 75 years ago were part of the greatest generation.
