අ - Ayanna

"Sinhala" is considered as one of the most aesthetically beautiful alphabets in the world. It is the native language of the Sinhala people.

Today is the first day of #30DaysofAkuru, an initiative by @akurucollective to design the letters and numbers of Sinhala in the next 30 days.

This is letter අ (uh). The first letter in the alphabet which is introduced first to a child and the closest to heart as it is the first letter of the word අම්මා (Amma/Mother). I've been wanting to design a complete set of Sinhala letters in my own way and this is my submission to #30DaysofAkuru_Day1.

I used a grid to form the letter with minimal features, swipe left to see the grid.
