The First Pride Was a Riot
Pride Month 2019 is the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. Police raided Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in NYC’s Greenwich Village, which sparked a riot by the gay community who was tired of being discriminated against.
50 years later, we gather in cities all over the United States to celebrate who we are and who we love. Let’s not forget the members of the gay community, like Marsha Johnson, who sparked a movement 50 years ago 🏳️🌈
