Cerbus Family Crest

My brother suggested incorporating a Roman fasces with an oar instead of an axe or arrow, since our family has spent a lot of time canoeing.

Not sure about the angle on those, and I'm concerned that the paddles might not be recognized as canoe paddles.

Suggestions?
