If you consider yourself “pro-life” you should know making abortions illegal is historically dangerous and not only can, but WILL result in a higher number of deaths. 💀 How can this be? Before abortion was permitted by law many women sought illegal ways to undergo this procedure. This meant subjecting themselves to medically untrained “surgeons” and unsanitary conditions, resulting in failed attempts and an increasing (yet largely undocumented) body count. Some would go as far as to try to perform the procedure on themselves practicing dangerous methods such as using the wire from a hanger, causing not only excruciating pain, but irrecoverable hemorrhages in which the mother would bleed to death.
There’s plenty of registered evidence online where you can read about this but please know this new law means regressing, not progressing. It condemns women for merely having a reproductive system, threatens to incarcerate educated doctors for a lifetime, and legally forces many who undergo trauma caused by sexual abuse to carry the child of the abuser. It will result in women’s deaths and incarcerations, unwanted children, and mothers who can’t financially support their child. 🙅🏻‍♀️
❗️Let us not support a society that insists on punishing women and victims, and excusing abusers.
When the penalty for aborting after rape is more severe than the penalty for rape, there’s a problem.
