The inside features a map for the journey this album takes you on from downtown Hollywood to Joshua tree. Queens of the Stone Age wrote this album using a flat and dry EQ mix to mimic a cheap car stereo. There are also radio snippets you could hear along the way. These two aspects of the album inspired the black and white color scheme and simple line art.
