J is for Jenga
Jenga is a game of physical skill created by British board game designer and author Leslie Scott, and currently marketed by Hasbro. The game actually started in Africa, as Scott and her family first used wooden blocks purchased from a local sawmill in Ghana to create the game. Jenga is not a made-up word. It is derived from kujenga, a Swahili word which means "to build.”
What blows my mind to find out NOW is that the blocks the game uses are not identical. To help add even more challenge to the game of Jenga, each of the wooden blocks (which are usually one fifth as thick as their length) are created with small random variations in size. This means that some of the blocks may be a tad shorter or thinner than others, which creates imperfections in the stacking process and in turn helps make your tower just a little more unstable.
