"Channels"?

Using an area of Photoshop i often ignore because I previously "had no use for it" - or i thought I didn't. Turns out I do, like most things I learn and can use Channels to make a decent selection if annoying tricky objects, like I don'y know....... FRIGGIN' TREES & BRANCHES!
