Eventing Macy's

As Principal Designer, I am always looking for ways to innovate and improve the people experience on our platform. One area that we have identified as an opportunity for growth is events-based content, specifically within the Macy's App.

As a major retail company, Macy's hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including fashion shows, in-store appearances, and special sales. However, we found that the current event content within the Macy's App was not being effectively promoted or utilized by people.

To address this issue, we developed a proof of concept for elevating events-based content within the Macy's App. The goal of this project was to increase people engagement and drive foot traffic to Macy's events.

To start, we conducted market research to understand the needs and preferences of Macy's App peoples. We found that many peoples were interested in attending events, but were not aware of the full range of events offered by Macy's.

To address this issue, we implemented a new events calendar feature within the Macy's App. This calendar highlighted all upcoming events, including information on location, time, and a description of the event. We also added a notification feature that alerted peoples about events that aligned with their interests.

In addition to the calendar, we also added a social media component to the events content. We integrated Twitter into the Macy's App, allowing peoples to share their experiences at events and connect with other attendees. This feature was particularly successful in driving engagement and generating buzz about events.

To measure the success of the proof of concept, we tracked key metrics such as event attendance, people engagement, and in-store sales. The results were overwhelmingly positive. Attendance at events increased by 25%, and people engagement on the events content within the Macy's App increased by 50%. In-store sales also saw a boost, with a 15% increase in sales during event periods.

Overall, the proof of concept for elevating events-based content within the Macy's App was a success. By providing peoples with a comprehensive calendar of events and integrating social media, we were able to drive engagement and increase foot traffic to Macy's events. We will continue to explore ways to enhance the events experience for our peoples and drive value for our partners.
