White Denim gigposter for Sacramento - 04/24/19

For my next joint, I needed to do something looser and less formalist than all the structured, heavily illustrated gigposters ive been doing of late. Fortunately an opportunity would present itself in the form of a poster for Abstract Entertainment’s presentation of White Denim with the Once and Future Band, two bands I’ve wanted to see live for too many years, next Wednesday at Sacramento. And on top of that, inspiration would strike in the form of Zachariah, a bananas hippie western from 1971 featuring The James Gang and other bands of the time. It’s a trippy, tuned in, zoned out romp that absolutely put my “head” in the right frame of mind for a project like this. From that angle it all just flowed. I wanted to to take you on a journey beyond binary notions of tastefulness and I designed the color palette to vibrate and hum and make love to your eyes with the velvet kiss of a cosmic dandy. You’ll be able to get a souvenir copy of this by coming to the show, which you should do anyway because both bands are fucking great.
