Giant Steps Song Covers

Background: This project was to create song covers for individual songs in a specific album using only typographic elements that could be manipulated. I chose to work with the album Giant Steps by John Coltrane, an album known to be the most challenging album to play in jazz. This is because John Coltrane did an extensive study on the rule of fifths, playing in multiple keys within the same song, and even changing keys within each individual note. In this project, I wanted to incorporate these ideas and have designed something where each piece works on its own, but is also able to come together to make something greater.
