Jakob's Law
Jakob’s Law of the Internet User Experience states that users spend most of their time on other websites than on your website. This means that users are accustomed to certain design patterns that are commonly used. For example, users expect a clickable brand logo that leads to the homepage to be placed on the top left of the screen, in the main navigation bar on the top. E-commerce websites generally apply Jakob’s Law to their designs as users are accustomed to a standard purchasing behaviour flow.
When designing your website, keep in mind Jakob’s Law, to keep users comfortable so they don’t leave due to frustration!
