D for Dissociation

D is for Dissociation 💭
-
The feelings around this and severity can vary, and there are several dissociative disorders. This usually stems from trauma, and serves as a coping mechanism. Different symptoms might be:
> Feeling confuses and dazed wandering, almost as if detaching from the self. Some people describe this as floating around and seeing themselves from an outside perspective, and ultimately feeling like things around them are not real.
> An inability to remember personal events
> The feeling that one is not themselves can cause two or more identities or personality traits within a single person
-
This is a very complex topic but signs of dissociation can be:
> Tendency towards other mental health problems such as depression and anxiety
> An unclear sense of identity
> A sense of detachment of the self, feeling like they’re seeing their live as if through a movie
> A presence of another person (or several people) being in your head, as in having different identities and personalities
-
What you can do:
> See a therapist! If you have a dab experience don’t give up, until you find someone that is a good fit for you. 💛
