Kintsugi

The raw source of this healing powder is a dark black fungus, which hides a golden center underneath its cracked surface. The similarities in the patterns and in the fact that the two phenomena are quite rare, this packaging uses to connect the motifs found in nature with those of imaginative Kintsugi ceramic artisans. What happens during this creative process is that broken ceramic pieces are “glued” back together with molten gold, thus making a unique art work each time. This skill, native to Japan, is called Kincukuroi or Kintsugi and it literally translates as “mended by/with gold”.
