B ~ Barbara McClintock
During her time as a cytogeneticist, Barbara made groundbreaking discoveries with her research on corn genetics. Her work was considered too radical at the time and ignored by many of her fellow scientists. 30 years after her discovery, Barbara was finally recognized with the 1983 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine. She was the first woman to be the sole winner of this award.
