Grayscale system for preliminary designs

Exploring a better way to design: black-and-white first.

I wanted to explore designing first in grayscale because theoretically it forces you to optimize on hierarchy, contrast and composition before factoring in color.

So, I created this simple system based on HSL (with a lot of thought toward how percentage changes scale up/down).
