Chromatic Nanaimo Map

This was one of my favourite projects to date! It was a group wayfinding project. Our group chose the name “Chromatic Nanaimo” with the goal to make Nanaimo brighter, and more inviting.

My task was to design a map of the three main districts of downtown Nanaimo in a colourful, fun, and easy-to-follow manner.

I used the Chromatic Nanaimo colours to highlight the main attractions, restaurants & parks in each district. Every street and building are represented on this map, but with the audience of tourists, or lost locals in mind, I kept the hierarchy highest on the hotspots by accentuating them with illustrations and category pins.

Finally, the map will be available in large scale in common areas around town, in a brochure, and on our groups app.
