The Wooden Peacock Who Paid Our Debt of Sin

Completed on May 24, 2018. This drawing is very emotional for me because it represents the crucifixion of Jesus. I chose a peacock to represent Jesus because they’re so glorious and majestic. The peacock is made of wood, like one of those wooden human figures you use for drawing, along with other art supplies; this represents how Jesus was striped and people gambled for his clothes. The spiky brush on the peacocks head represents the crown of thorns, and the metal stand that’s holding up the peacock represents the cross. Like Jesus, this peacock was striped of its beautiful feathers and people used it as a reason to celebrate. That’s why the paint tube is tied with ribbons to resemble a peacock feather, and balloons are being squeezed out of it.
