Virginia Tax partnered with CapTech to improve its digital experience and to make its user experience and paying taxes as painless as a possible.
Research indicated that customers who interacted with Virginia Tax employees directly had positive experiences but people weren’t as happy about the agency’s website. The old website design was over five years old, hard to navigate, and not mobile-friendly. Additionally, the site was running on an outdated version of Drupal, an open-source content management framework.
CapTech assembled a team of web developers, designers and digital strategists to help refresh the brand, move the agency to a newer, revamped version of Drupal, and ensure a seamless transition. The implementation of a newer version of Drupal eliminated the costs of installing and operating an entirely new platform while mitigating the need for staff retraining.
Since the site went live, success rates for key online tasks have increased 13% and the efficiency of those tasks has improved by 26%. The new site also enables real-time updates, is easily maintained, and can be fully supported by an internal IT staff. The site was the winner of the 2018 Interactive Media Award (IMA): "Best in Class — Government.
