Freyja
Freyja, one of the most powerful of the Norse Gods. Praised for her physical appearance the god of sex and love’s other forgotten talents span to sorcery, fertility, gold, war and death. She also has a flying cape or falcon feathers, a chariot pulled by two mighty cats, and a battle boar named Hildisvini. Her main role in Norse mythology fell to being a continually defiant bargaining chip in the games of her male counterparts. One of the more interesting stories about Freyja has her resisting the will of Thor and Loki who wish her to marry a giant for their own ends. She instead forces Thor to dress as her in a wedding dress and veil and marry the giant himself. A fitting strong, misused, misrepresented and misunderstood woman to mark International Women's Day.
