Recreational Typography

There's something about the way words look that makes it fun to create entire design pieces surrounding them. I enjoy both the technical act of illustrating words in this stark, sans-serif handmade type, and the conceptual side as well; most of the time the design correlates with the meanings of the words themselves.

I'm also quite inspired by the artist Ed Ruscha who created a series of drawings made out of gunpowder based on different phrases of American vernacular.
