Athlete Check ✅for Athlete Names

I originally posted this on twitter as a response to Hannah Bevis' tweet about TSN misspelling 3 different players names: https://twitter.com/Hannah_Bevis1/status/1096247979919446017

It really made me think about how there isn't a tool for journalists writing about sports to quickly fact check things like athletes names.

Teams, Players, Numbers, is all data that all sports have and to be able to automatically highlight correct and potentially incorrect names seemed like something that could be made.

Why isn't there a Grammarly but for journalists writing about athletes?

So I built out this Athlete Check ✅in sketch/aftereffects to spellcheck names.

This is really based off of Grammarly's UI, but I also added made sure that it highlighted all player names both correct and incorrect.

I also included the headshot and team they play for as another way to double check they have the right player/information about that player.

✅Athletes: Surfaced so writers can double check who they're writing about, and have the ability to change athletes/hear how their names are pronounced.

🚫Athletes: Surface what is incorrect about the spelling of the name, allow a dismiss (Maybe the data is wrong), and more which would bring up swap athlete and pronunciation.
