3D Renders for Design Systems Series, ep. 5
Oh hey there, Dribbble. Here's a peek at some new 3D work I created for the latest episode of InVision’s Design Systems: Mastering Design at Scale. This episode is all about getting your design system out of pilot mode and supporting more product teams.
Imagery-wise, I wanted to stay with the machine automation vibe from previous episodes, but also get across the importance of UI consistency over multiple products.
To create the 3D UI screens, I used a wireframe UI kit imported into Cinema 4D as a .ai file, then extruded it and dropped it into a fracture object which broke up all the pieces nicely. I could then animate the entire thing with just 2 keyframes using a step effector.
For the low-poly orb, I started with a spherical landscape object, reduced the geometry and dropped it into a displacer object with some noise to animate it. Then just copied and pasted a couple of times (making sure to change the seed to avoid getting the same noise pattern) and boom: animation automation!
Hit the L key (thanks!) and then go take a look at the episode to see it all in context (and maybe pick up a few new collaboration tips).
