R/V Petrel 1.0 Website Design and Interactions

A website I designed for the Research Vessel (R/V) Petrel, Paul Allen's research and underwater exploration vessel. The site highlighted the 1st year of expeditions where they found over 16 shipwrecks of WW2 vessels from the U.S. and Japan.

I built the interactive/animated HUDs for each of the finds that mimicked the depth and coordinates of the actual video footage from the find, but I created it all in After Effects and exported to Lottie, so they were all vector graphics, small file size, and scaled with the browser window to always stay docked at the top and in the corners of the interactive area.

We ended up updating the site this year to better accommodate adding future finds (as they're actively finding more all the time), but this one was a blast to work on.
