Nebulous Orb Illustration

This is not a photograph or 3D render it's simply a digital painting done with procreate. I had an idea of what this could look like but it came out way more realistic than I anticipated.  After the orb was complete I know I wanted it on a surface with a background but I wasn't sure what to do I also know I wanted to imitate aperture once I had the background and surface. I was able to imitate aperture using a combination of gaussian blur and soft airbrush as the smudge brush. Hope you enjoy!

I may animate this and make it into a looping gif someday. Does anyone know a good animation app for iPad?
