Exhibition Catalogue - Wisdom of Crowds
This Tri-lingual, 100 page publication was produced for the exhibition "Wisdom of Crowds" for Alkarma Art Gallery in Israel.
The notion of "Wisdom of Crowds" maintains that in certain conditions the wisdom of the crowd exceeds the wisdom of the individual expert, and some of the prerequisites for its existence are heterogeneity, pluralism, and diversity of views. The exhibition presents a proposal (one of several potential possibilities) for opening the public space in a way that will allow different types of local knowledge to take root. Knowledge based on the diversity and heterogeneity of the public – the artists and the residents – who have it in their power, together or separately, to translate it to a practical way of generating change in the local space.
The catalogue is full of graphic elements created with typography and only two colors. The design language focuses heavily on incongruity, so the idea of combining the graphic elements with the art works and the bright yellow seemed very incompatible and fitting for the exhibition topic.
