Filter Interaction

One of Numetric's biggest claims to fame is that our analytical apps and dashboards are lightning fast (hence the ⚡️in the logo). Since our beginning, people have loved how they can perform intense queries through our simple, Google-like, search bar.

As more people began to use our products, we began to understand there were more advanced ways by which they wanted to search and filter down their data.

Before I started designing, I knew there were a few things that we could not jeopardize - familiarity or ease of use and duration of interaction.

It was challenging at times to figure out how to introduce such advanced capabilities into such a small component. Prior to these changes, it was basically a search bar with typeahead. Here are just some of the things we added -

• Filter by Date Range
(show me all crashes that occurred last year)

• Filter by Integer Range
(show me all crashes where driver's age is 16 - 19)

• Exclusive Filters
(show me all crashes where roads were NOT wet)

• Filter Functions
(show me all crashes where speed was greater than 40)
