A new logo for Unsplash (Motion Design)
One of the things we enjoy most about building Unsplash is how important high-quality visuals are to the product. Every day, we get to work with thousands of new visuals for our latest projects, be it a new homepage, an iOS app, or a new feature like the photo uploader.
We typically put a lot of thought in selecting the visuals we use to support our layouts or ideas. Every now and then, choosing the right image is more crucial than ever, especially when working in a medium such as motion design. Here, the photo is not just a supporting element; it's the element that is telling the story.
After collaborating with @Mackey Saturday on the redesign of the Unsplash logo, we thought the most effective and exciting way of revealing the new logo was with video.
Not many people know this, but Kirill and I studied communications in college before choosing to pursue a career in design. It’s where we both discovered mediums like photography and videography, two art forms that almost became part of our respective professions.
Whenever we get the chance, we surely don't mind getting lost in the world of video and everything surrounding it, especially when working with the talented folks at @PUSHER studio. They were able to work with our storyboard and images and create what we think exemplified the Unsplash community and our mission to build the internet's library of freely usable visuals.
You can read the logo announcement on the Unsplash Blog.
