The process was a little different from what im used to, started with no reference at all, just a small idea that was later developed into 4 different concepts which then had 7 variations so I could choose the one I liked the most. Changing the orientation of the word was a good way to make it more interesting, rounded corners also made it feel softer and more subtle.
