Happy Yule 2018

Decided to do something completely different this year, heard a folktale that fascinated me. Twelve days before the longest night of the year a tree would be brought into the house as a representative of the spirit of the woods and serve as a shelter during the coldest days. Small bells and candy were put on the branches so the spirits would feast and announce their presence. On the top of the tree, a five-pointed star would be placed representing the five elements to protect the home along with the Yule log. I am sure there are many interpretations of the origin of the Christmas tree but this one stuck with me - also I think there are not enough modern representations of old folk stories in the world.
