Miami2

The official shirt of my newest collection, Miami Will Be Laid To Waste: An Homage to Patrick Nagel. The collection focuses on pictures of women filtered in the style of Neon Noir, while poking fun at the thin skin of the art community of that lovely tropical city and seeking to nudge it forward after stagnating these last few years. Being a former resident of that a e s t h e t i c city craved from the glades who was hugely inspired by it, I felt it was only right to pay my respects to its influence on my art while focusing on the art I have long been most fascinated with, that of Patrick Nagel.

While many may scoff or look down there noses as the illistrations of Nagel, he was not some lude cartoonish who merely objectified his subjects. Instead he used did a marvelous job drawing attention to the sharp and interesting angles of the human form (while famous for drawing women, he also drew men in the same style. I just find the female form has better aesthetics in general, so its what I focus on in depicting humanity by proxy). What Nagel did for me was get me to realize that it was the perspective and angle of a piece I find the most captivating.

Each shirt contrasts the profile of the woman in shadow against a headboard with the triangles used in other pieces of mine (specifically pointing down as that is the ancient symbol of the female) to draw the eye to the grometry of the woman's head which is particularly perfect in this example.
