Arabic Calligraphy Today
Artists today are turning to the Arabic script as a source of inspiration for their work. The use of letters as graphic shapes, where their core value lies in their arrangement and colour, reflects the westernisation of the art form. The word al-hubb (‘love’) written in blue pigment ink by Iraqi painter and calligrapher Hassan Massoudy features on our ‘Arabic Calligraphy Around the World’ calendar page.
