10x18: #9 Colter Wall - Song of the Plains

At #9 I have another American great, Colter Wall from Canada. There were so many fun country/americana albums this year including the re-release of Tyler Childer's “Live on Red Barn Radio” and Joshua Hedley's “Mr. Jukebox” (released on Jack White's Third Man Records), but this album was my favorite of them all. Haunting cowboy tunes that feel like they were written after a cattle drive, sitting in front of a crackling fire in the middle of nowhere. I can imagine it as the soundtrack to some Coen brothers western.
