Book Cover Practice: Dresden File Series

I have recently fallen in love with creating book covers. To really get in some good practice, I turned to my favorite series, The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Featured here are the first five books with book five in the front. Since this is a series, it was important that they remain cohesive while telling an individual story. As you can see, a main thread is the Chicago skyline, the layout, and the typography. I use a combination of my own created elements, as well as vectors purchased from Vexels (commercial use) to create the covers. I use three programs to achieve the final look: AI, PS, and ID. The mockup template is from CoverVault (an amazing book and magazine mockup designer) and I added in a new backdrop to it. I have really enjoyed creating the artwork for this series and I look forward to further practicing my book design skills on the rest of these books.
