Kinnear Family Crest Concept

I was messing around with some new ideas for my personal branding. It's a bit of a never ending process for me and like many designers it's something I find difficult to do. I've always wanted to do something that related to my family and my heritage so I took references from my family coat of arms.

The Kinnear coat of arms often contained references to anchors as well as birds and I decided to combine the two into a modern marque. Upside down the symbol can be viewed as an anchor, flipped around, a stooping bird such as a Kestrel or Peregrine. The Latin family motto "spe vivitur" or " we live in hope" also influenced the design and the use of a bird in the final logo. Hope is often symbolised through the use of a birds such as the dove of peace.

I still need to finalise marque and polish it up but I love the simplicity of the symbol....
