Victoria's Art Gallery logo concept

Intrigued by the idea of representing art without resorting to generic and frequently used symbols of artist palette, paintbrush or a camera; I found my inspiration in refraction of light trough a prism.
Logo construction is based on the idea that the gallery space is referred to as white cube in terms of modern art which is the reason the letter V is placed inside a square shape.
Art is extraordinary diverse in styles and the gallery logo should go well with many different visual styles, which is the reason I incorporated different art ideas into the logo. Classic art referred to as academic art is recognizable by its rules and canons therefore my logo design reflects certain strictness in its composition. Modern art and its geometrical ideas are obviously used as an inspiration. Lastly, conceptual and abstract art is represented by excluding lines so the letter V exists only as an optical illusion (exists only as an idea or concept) of different color values.
