Día de los Muertos

Now that Día de los Muertos is in full swing, I wanted to share my first attempt at illustrating a calavera or sugar skull. 💀 I know this interpretation is not the most traditional looking, but it’s definitely my kinda vibe. ✨ I've always admired the holiday for it’s abundance of color and life-affirming joy. One day I hope to visit Janitzio or Oaxaca during this time to gain an authentic experience of the celebration. Do you or your family celebrate? And I’m not talking about Halloween. Day of the Dead is quite popular in Southern California, but I wonder how many people are familiar with it elsewhere. Let me know!
