IKU-TURSO [ERAKKORAPU] FUI

Earth has been abandoned for decades, polluted by humanity it became a toxic wasteland. Seeking salvation, human life took to the stars, and took solace on Mars.

Many years go by, and humanity adapts to life on the red planet. As the population on Mars increases, so does the need for basic resources, such as water.

Mars' governments sought to find a planet rich in fresh drinking water, that could be ferried back to Mars. Scientists Identified Enceladus as the prime target for such resource. Enceladus is made up of fresh, clean ice that is perfect for drinking water.

The mission briefing for the operation, is to land on Enceladus, and begin extracting raw sheet ice to be transported back to Mars.

Iku-Turso 1789-B [Erakkorapu]

The "Erakkorapu" is an industrial space ship, that was designed in 2091 by the Iku-Turso corporation. It gets it's name from it's resemblance to a hermit crab. The ship is operated by a crew of 8, all employed by the Iku-Turso corporation.

The vessel is old, rusted, and battered by decades of Industrial use, and space travel. The ships user interface (analogue) technology uses light projector systems, which are aged, and poorly maintained.

Project Notes

I took inspiration for the project by looking at alot of analogue technology, particularly light projectors and (CRT) magnetised screens. Older screen technology has lots of little colour intricacies that I wanted to take inspiration for the UI. It was important to me to achieve a distinctively retro/analogue feel to the Erakkorapu's FUI. As the ship is old, and well used, It needed an FUI that reflected many years of use.
