Daily UI #049 - Notifications
For today's challenge I wanted to go beyond what is expected for a notification ui design and dive deeper into the case if a user didn't want to have notifications.
This topic is very important to me as there is a constant debate on what's human-centered design. Does it only involve the user, or does it involve all the stakeholders and therefore values profit. If it only involves the user, then why don't companies and the designers that are designing for large systems that will influence a lot of people don't think of the mental wellbeing of their users?
How much anxiety has notifications caused? How much have these constant reminders ruined our lives? Do we have control of what we check? How we check? Do we have control of our attention? How do we respond to these notifications? Has the addictive quality of notifications, which in some cases has been designed to keep the user in the app, shape the way we interact with the world? How are our psyches? Are we happy? Does our mood get manipulated by these notifications?
