Contrast essay by John D Berry

The objective of this project was to create a typographically expressive work using the content of an essay on typographic contrast by John D Berry. One of the biggest challenges of the project was determining how to express the various typographic methods expressed in the content while keeping the design uncluttered and not overwhelming. I solved this problem by implementing a ‘less is more’ philosophy (something the essay touched on quite a bit). I was able to incorporate 6 out of the 7 types of contrast addressed in the essay in a cohesive, simple poster. This project taught me that good design is not always complicated or innovative.
