Yellowstone - Open Skies National Park Series
Close up shot of the new Yellowstone poster I created for The Open Skies Trading Co.'s National Parks Series.
This was super fun to make. The ongoing idea of the project is to develop a WPA-inspired silk-screened poster for every one of the 58 major parks in the US and to donate $1 from every poster sold to the National Park Foundation.
Because of that and wanting to keep the art feeling vintage; I opted to produce the art for each poster entirely by hand in keeping with the spirit of the process for the original posters creation. As a result, this poster took me almost a month to complete since the normal shortcuts afforded by a computer weren't there. (maintaining perfect alignment of physical film sheets while you work is a LOT harder than Ps layers. ) Overall though, I'm really stoked with how they came out, learned a lot about the process and why we do some things we do in screen printing, and I'm really looking forward to starting print production on the next image I'm finishing up for Zion National Park.
