Steam Beer

The artwork I designed for The Lost Borough Brewing Co's Steam Beer - A.K.A an Anchor Steam Style Brew

About the Beer: Whisk yourself back to Gold Rush-era San Francisco with the Lost Borough's Steam Beer. Contrary to belief, this style in no way uses steam in its production. Also known as a California Common, Steam Beer was an accidental discovery in the West Coast City. Its residents were used to drinking European Pilsners, but local brewers had to make do with primitive refrigeration techniques. The result was this hybrid style brew made popular 125 years ago by the famous Anchor Brewing. Steam beers are a well-hopped pale lager fermented at ale temperatures. Based on Two Row Pale and Caramel Malts our Steam exhibits a pale copper color with a clean crisp profile and earthy hop bitterness. However it's the Western European yeast that truly gives it a distinctive flavor.
