Should design matter to an indie maker?

The barrier to building cool stuff has never been lower. We have unprecedented access to digital tools and resources that allow us to make something new within hours and for little to no money. We’re more empowered than ever to pursue our ideas.

But this new landscape radically changes the role of design in product creation. As a maker and a designer, I'm often asked if design is really even useful to makers. I wrote something up on Medium to explain why I'm certain it is.
